| The Origins of
Steele and Lincoln Foundry (Vic.) Pty. Ltd., date
back to 1913, when the present owner's
grandfather established the Enterprise Foundry in
Bruswick, Victoria, specialising in pattern
making, castings and machinery for General
Engineering Industries. 1964 saw a new Foundry
aquired in Clifton Hill, W.H. Steele by the two
sons. This business providing mainly sash
weights, fire and storm grates.
In 1967, one of the sons Arch and his son
Douglas aquired the Lincoln Foundry in Burwood
and combining the two names saw the beginning of
Steele and Lincoln Foundry as we know it.
Advancement in Technology provided for Steele
and Lincoln to engage the use of electric
induction furnaces, a spectographic analysis
machine and an automatic moulding machine. Steele
and Lincoln's capacity and reputation rapidly
developed and expanded, so much so that the only
way to contain it was to purchase a larger plant,
Dandenong.
The current facilities now include :-
- A spectographic analysis machine - ARL
3460.
- 4 Electric Induction Furnaces - 500 -
1,500 kg.
- A wheelabrator shot blast system and Heat
Treatment Stove for annealing,
normalizing and tempering.
- 3 Continuous Hard Sand Mixing Machines.
- Top level in-house pattern making
facilities.
- CB 22 RM Auto Core and mould unit.
Ultimately, Steele and Lincoln Foundry aim not
only to have enhanced their current involvement
in the national market but worldwide too.
